تستعرض هذه الدراسة أهم ما جاء في نظرية تشومسكي التوليدية التحويلية والآراء التي طرحها تلميذه راي جاك اندوف حول إنتاج الدلالات الضمنية وتمثيلاتها السطحية، والكشف عن مدى المقاربة بين التمثيلات الذهنية والفعلية للغة عندهما، وما قدمه جاك اندوف من تصويب لبعض آراء استاذه في قضية فصل التركيب عن الدلالة، وصولاً إلى نظام نحوي عالمي، واستناداً على النظام اللغوي الجمعي.
