ʿAhd and Event
A Comparative Topology of the Dual

This article proposes a philosophical reconstruction of the concept of event by rethinking it through the Arabic notion of ʿahd (covenant, pact, engagement), which is reinterpreted as a dynamic and differential structure of relation. Unlike Western models that often depict the event as rupture, eruption, or pure donation (as in the works of Heidegger, Badiou, Deleuze, Derrida, Levinas, Ricœur, and Romano), the concept of ʿahd brings forth a logic of mutual implication, temporal resonance, and dual presence. It anchors the event not in a unilateral irruption, but in a relational topology founded on co-belonging, address, and historical promise. Drawing on the metaphysical potential of the Arabic language, the article outlines a philosophy of the dual (al-muthannā) where the event is always already shared, invoked, and situated. It concludes by sketching a topological model of differential relation capable of bridging Arab and global philosophical thought.
