Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide, with significant variations in incidence and mortality across regions. It is one of the top ten causes of female death in Iraq. According to data from the Iraqi Cancer Council, breast cancer ranks first in women's deaths from cancer, and according to data from the Iraqi Ministry of Health, it ranks among the top ten causes of death in Iraq and Baghdad Governorate. This study aims to study female breast cancer deaths in Baghdad Governorate in terms of the volume, rate, and mortality rate in the governorate and its districts, as well as the demographic, marital, and economic characteristics of deceased women. The researcher followed several approaches in her study, such as the descriptive approach and the analytical approach. Based on the results of a field study conducted in hospitals specializing in cancer in Baghdad Governorate in 2023 and data from the Iraqi Cancer Council/Ministry of Health for 2022, the study concluded that there is a disparity in women's deaths from breast cancer between the districts of Baghdad Governorate and an increase in the mortality rate compared to previous years across Iraq and Baghdad Governorate, due to varying factors that led to death. The increase in the mortality rate is linked to the level of healthcare provided by oncologists and healthcare personnel in hospitals specializing in cancer treatment, as well as women's health awareness of the risks of the disease, adherence to treatment, and periodic checkups to detect the stage of the disease.
