The effectiveness of the counselling sessions provided by the social worker in raising students’ awareness of life skills

The current study aims to identify the effectiveness of the counseling classes provided by the social counselor (social specialist) to the students in the school in raising their awareness about the various matters of life. The study was based on the foundations of the theory of building social action. The current study used the experimental method, using a sample of grade-level students, and the study used an experimental sample of (60) male and female students from the third and fourth grades in one of the schools in Al Buraimi Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman during the 2021/2022 school year. The study also relied on the method of direct observation, the students' daily behavioral attitudes, and the knowledge test to measure the impact as tools for data collection. One of the most prominent results of the study was that the counseling program based on students’ needs has greatly contributed to raising students’ awareness about the issues covered by the program, and also contributed to raising the amount of practical participation of students through practical participation in initiatives that support the counseling program such as the Friends of the School Community Initiative, and the emerging initiatives of which. The study recommended the continuation of the application of the counseling program for the largest segment of school students of all levels of study. The study also suggested that there be a daily counseling class so that each class receives sufficient awareness and guidance throughout the school year.
