The research addresses the argumentative function of the single adjective (al-naʿt al-mufrad) in the Qur’an, viewing it as a linguistic device that transcends its traditional grammatical role to perform persuasive, directive, and emphatic functions within an integrated discursive structure. The study adopts a methodology that combines Perelman’s rhetorical approach and Ducrot’s linguistic approach to reveal the interplay between linguistic form and argumentative content. The findings show that the choice of adjectives in Qur’anic discourse is never arbitrary; rather, it reflects intentional pragmatic and axiological dimensions that influence the recipient. Furthermore, the study demonstrates that the single adjective contributes to meaning construction, guides dialogue, and reframes concepts to achieve persuasive and ethical purposes, thereby confirming the Qur’an’s unique mastery in employing grammatical categories for argumentative effect.
