Religious Heritage in the Poetry of Al-Sharif Al-Murtada (D 436 H)

An Analytical Study

Abstract

This research dealt with the manifestations of the heritage to contribute to the Diwan of Al-Sharif Al-Murtada, as he is one of the flags of the fourth Hijri poetry and the most prominent figures of thought and literature in his era, through the induction of selected texts and chose the essence of the depth of the influence of the Holy Qur’an, the Prophet’s Hadith, and the leadership heritage in shaping his experience. The poet Al-Sharif Al-Murtada is considered one of the Abbasid worshippers who are influenced by the Holy Qur’an and its stories, and nine did not differ on the Qur’anic quotation in his poetry; Rather, his influence was evident in the noble prophetic hadiths and his quoting of those hadiths that serve his idea and convey it to the recipient in a style far from ambiguity and complexity when he mixed his idea with those noble verses and wise sayings in his poems, and this is what indicates the extent of the poet’s religious culture that he acquired from his environment. This is clearly evident in his poetic output, which gives strength to expression and a refined style, far from ambiguity. This is a prominent feature in the Holy Quran, which has dominated his poetry, leading to clarity of meanings for the recipient.

The study revealed that the poet was not a traditional poet who employed religion solely for artistic purposes; rather, he was a thoughtful and articulate thinker who formulated his beliefs in the language of poetry. In his poetry, emotion blended with reason, art with argument, and eloquence with faith.
