The current research aimed to identify the measure of the complexity of social identity among university students, according to the variables of gender (male, female), and nationality (Arab, Kurdish, and Turkmen), and to identify the differences in the complexity of social identity according to the variables (gender and nationality) among university students. To achieve the research objectives, the researchers prepared a scale of social identity complexity according to the theory of (Roccas & Brewer, 2002). The research sample was selected from (8) colleges in government morning colleges, for the academic year (2023-2024), and from (3) universities (Baghdad and Al-Qadisiyah representing Arab nationalism, and Kirkuk representing Kurdish and Turkmen nationalism). The research sample was selected from those universities using a simple equal random sample method, with (600) male and female students, and (200) male and female students for each nationality. Then, the researcher extracted the psychometric properties of the scale in terms of validity and reliability by finding the discriminatory power of each paragraph of the scale. And finding the relationship of the paragraph to the field and the relationship of the paragraph to the total score of the scale, and the stability was extracted by the Cronbach's alpha and retest methods, and the stability of the scale by the retest method was (0.74), and by the Cronbach's alpha method (0.78), and after processing the data statistically using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and the (AMOS) program for the purpose of extracting the results, the researchers reached the following results: The research sample has a complex social identity, and that there is no statistically significant difference in the complexity of social identity according to the gender variable, and that there is a statistically significant difference in the complexity of social identity according to the nationality variable and in favor of Kurdish nationalism, and the researchers came out with a set of recommendations and proposals.
