This study aims to uncover the relationship between the doubled verb and the hollow verb in Syriac, which manifests itself in two main aspects: formal (lexical) convergence and semantic relationship. The research is based on the hypothesis that there are purely linguistic, morphological and grammatical reasons behind this convergence, which calls for an analysis of the phenomenon from multiple angles, including morphological, grammatical and phonetic studies, in addition to lexical study.
The research includes defining the doubled verb and the hollow verb in Syriac, mentioning the chapters of the two verbs, with a brief comparison between the doubled verb and the hollow verb in the Syriac language. The research also discusses the conjugation of the hollow verb in Syriac with the subject pronouns, and the derivation of the agent noun, the patient noun and the infinitive from it, to monitor and follow the morphological changes that occur to it.
The study also focuses on analyzing the formal (lexical) relationship between the doubled verb and the hollow verb in Syriac, where the focus is on the structural similarities that contribute to this convergence. For the doubled verb, the weights that this verb takes in Syriac are determined. In addition, the study addresses the semantic relationship between the two verbs, highlighting the similarities and differences in meanings and uses.
In this context, the meanings carried by each of the two verbs in different linguistic contexts are analyzed, with an attempt to explain the differences or similarities that may appear when they are used in different sentences.
