Spatial variation of municipal solid waste distribution in Iraq

The problem of environmental pollution has varied and multiplied because it has been associated with human life since its inception. The most important problems faced by urban communities due to the serious environmental, social and health problems, so this research came to highlight this problem. Social The study examined the large diversity of municipal waste, such as domestic, industrial, agricultural, construction and hazardous waste. The research dealt with the environmental effects of municipal solid waste, especially air pollution, soil and visual pollution as well as its health effects. The research showed that there is a positive relationship between the population and the quantity of solid waste. The volume of solid waste increased to 32,201 million tons per day, as well as its relationship with other factors such as standard of living, wage level, labor force and average number of households. The research did not neglect the role of social factors in the development and aggravation of this problem, Social urbanization and seasonal variation, poor urban planning and lack of environmental awareness among the population, as well as factors related to the lack of performance of some municipal institutions in Iraq. The research concluded with a set of recommendations that could contribute to reducing the environmental difficulties and impacts of solid waste.
