Baghdad in a century of preparing basic plans

Abstract

Planning of the cities and organizing the uses of Its lands were the ideal way to achieve balance and to control the competitiveness which rose since the foundation of the city in which the competitiveness among many jobs in possessing the land was present and still is to this day which urged the specialists in planning the cities to organize and exploit the land in order to employ the available capabilities to make perfect use of the land in a way that serves the city`s society .so the city was through its activities like a living being moved by economical,social,political, and cultural factors in the context of enviromental factors for the place.and the city of baghdad like all the other cities throughout history has subjected to all these considerations since Its foundation which started from a schematic  vision that organized its constructional structure based on that organization in the uses of of Its lands and looking at Its structural formation It led to the completion of Its Morphological March reacting with the historical events that It went through till our very day.the onset of practicing the schematic ideas for the modern maghdad city came with the british invasion of Iraq on 1917 A.C  which led to paving ways and building bridges in all cities of Iraq from which Baghdad obtained a small share represented by building the relatively large streets inside the vital alleys depending on the architectural planning with a westren trend.But after the foundation of the Iraqi nation wich took Baghdad as Its capital then the government initiated a series of economical , ocial,and constructional repairs throughout all the cities of the country from which Baghdad city the capital obtained a great share included mainly the constructional aspects represented by widening of the habitation areas and building bridges on the the Tigris river and building a network of roads and streets.reaching the initiation of preparing the detailed sectorial plans for Its revival and finishing with Its master plan.and today a century has passed since the onset of preparing the first master plans of Baghdad city starting with that plan that was made by the english architect Wilson in the early twenties of the last century and finishing with the plan made by Al-Khateeb and  El- Alami bureau after that to be the steering and controlling over the growth and development of the city of Baghdad to 2030 making the number of the master plans which was made to develop the city of Baghdad and Its formal approval more than six plans although most of them were made under the main goal of preparing the plans as an official document that deals with both the time and place units put to control over or to direct the growth of the cities in a way that accomadates the economical ,social,and technological variables that already happened or are expected to happen achieving the perfect coexistence between the city and Its society through Its ability to perform Its jobs in a level that surpasses the lowest limit for the requested effeciency.
