This study aims to analyze and monitor the economic impacts of floods, as well as to identify the policies adopted to mitigate these impacts among a sample of flood-affected individuals. A targeted questionnaire was designed specifically for flood victims in the Emirate of Sharjah and was administered to 300 respondents, both males and females, with diverse demographic characteristics.
The findings of the study highlighted the importance of enhancing economic preparedness to address the consequences of floods. The results revealed challenges that impacted the execution of certain businesses and economic activities, emphasizing the necessity of developing proactive plans to minimize disruptions to commercial operations and activities.
The study also identified a set of existing policies implemented to manage crises effectively. At the forefront of these policies was the adoption of a clear and successful crisis management plan in the Emirate of Sharjah. Additionally, the implementation of mitigation policies focused on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and providing financial aid and compensation for the economic losses sustained by flood victims were highlighted as key measures.
The study underscored the significant role played by institutions in the Emirate of Sharjah in reducing the adverse effects of floods through well-established proactive strategies.
