الحد الفاصل بين علم النحو وعلم المعاني في النظرية اللغوية

لكي يتمكن اللغوي من الوصول الى وصف مناسب يتوجب عليه التركيز على احكد جوانب اللغة ويهمل الأخرى بموجب عملية تدعى التركيز والأختيار، ولكن يبقى اختيارا كهذا عاملا مصطنعا فمثلا الشخص الغير مختص أو الطفل ليس لديه أدنى فكرة بخصوص مستويات اللغة المختلفة على الرغم من انه يمتلك فطريا الأدوات النحوية والتركيبية والدلالية التي تساعده بتمييز الجمل الصحيحة من غير الصحيحة في لغته الأم.
هنالك اتجاهان فيما يتعلق بأوجه التداخل بين الحدود التركيبية والدلالية في النظرية اللغوية، يستند احدهما على اعتبار التراكيب اللغوية هي المنطلق الأساسي نحو فهم وتعلم اللغة (تشومسكي 1957-65-79 -81 ورادفورد 1988 وهوروك 1987 و هيغمان 1992) الفكرة التي طورها ودعمها فيما بعد (برنس و سمولونسكس 1993) في نظرية الأختيار الأمثل، أما الأتجاه الآخر فيستند على اعتبار التفسيرات الدلالية هي الأساس وهذا الأتجاه ينقسم الى طريقتين، التفسيرية والتوليدية (جيرولد كاتز وجيري فودر ولاكوف 1963) والتي طورها فيما بعد فلمور في عام 1968 في نظرية النحو المستند على الحالات الاعرابية. لقد ذهب المدخل التوليدي التحويلي في بدايته بعيدا باتجاه الأصرار على ان المستوى النحوي مستقلا بحد ذاته ويجب التعامل معه بمعزل عن المستوى الدلالي فيما أكد الكثيرون انهما متداخلان ويعتمد أحدهما على الآخر ولايمكن فصلهما عن بعض. من ناحية اخرى، أكد بعض علماء اللغة وخاصة الذين أهتموا بما يسمى علم الدلالة التوليدي أن التفسيرات الدلالية أكثر أهمية من التركيبية في التحليل النحوي فيما يذهب آخرون في الأتجاه المعاكس تماما مدعين أن التفسير الدلالي صعب التحليل ويجب ان يتم اعتباره من الأمور الملحقة باللغة وليس في صميمها.
تعتير هذه الورقة محاولة لتسليط الضوء على هذه الجدلية اللغوية من أجل الوصول الى بعض الخطوط العريضة التي ممكن أن تفيد المهتمين بالنظريات اللغوية وطلبة ومدرسي الأنكليزية كلغة أجنبية أو لغة ثانية من أجل تحديد أطار علمي واضح بالتعامل مع اللغة.
