Criminalized Digital Discourse on Social Media Platforms
A Forensic Linguistic Approach

This research is based on the study of criminalized digital discourse in Iraqi social media platforms، as it represents a field where language intersects with crime، relying on forensic linguistics tools that have established a significant space in analyzing language in judicial and security contexts. Its concept stems from the hypothesis that criminalized digital discourse carries a linguistic structure that can be analyzed and whose criminal intentions can be revealed، whether they constitute threats، incitement، defamation، or otherwise. The study employs a descriptive-analytical methodology within a pragmatic and stylistic framework to analyze real samples of digital discourses published on communication platforms، or discourses whose authors faced legal accountability in cases where I served as a linguistic expert. The research's importance lies in bridging the gap between language and law، demonstrating the potential of linguistic analysis in supporting judicial investigations، unlocking major criminal cases، and addressing many crimes that have close connections to linguistic practices، particularly in light of the challenges posed by the speed of discourse، the multiplicity of its media، and the difficulty of its legal interpretation. The research has shown that these discourses are characterized by recurring linguistic patterns، most notably: imperative constructions with threatening dimensions، conditional formulas associated with violence، and speech acts with high performative force. The study concludes with the necessity of integrating forensic linguistics within judicial work mechanisms and preparing specialists capable of interpreting and analyzing criminalized discourses with linguistic and legal precision.
