This study examines the reign of Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed al-Qasimi and his role in the modernization of the Emirate of Sharjah 1965-1972, which lacked a lot of economic, educational and cultural elements.
In record time, he has developed the emirate economically and educationally by directing institutions to work on plans to modernize the Emirate of Sharjah. He connected the emirate to a wide range of roads with the neighboring Emirates to facilitate the passage of commercial transport.
Also, he worked on constructing the great port of Sharjah, built high buildings with multiple floors, and built modern markets. He has developed the emirate's institutions, provided them with the factors of success and opened important departments, including the Department of Labor and Workers, the Department of Land and the Department of Justice. Moreover, he worked on the opening of a number of cultural clubs, including the Arab Club 1966 and the Arabian Gulf Club in 1969. Further, he has a role in reconciling viewpoints in the discussions of the establishment of the United Arab Emirates Union.
